A woman from Widnes whose nephews are keen followers of MrBeast has won a £50,000 Mercedes car courtesy of the YouTube megastar’s promotion with SPAR.
A delighted Nicola Poland collected the keys for her brand new 73-plate Mercedes CLA250e outside SPAR Ditchfield Road in Widnes in front of members of her family.
Nicola, an NHS 111 telephone operator, says she was stunned into silence when she found out she had won the grand prize by telephone.
However, she was only able to take the call after she was alerted by the competition organisers by email that she had inputted the wrong mobile number into the competition entry form.
SPAR Ditchfield Road is only a couple of minutes from her front door, and it is where Nicola saw the promotion advertised as a store regular.
Her nephews are big MrBeast devotees and watch all his YouTube videos. When they found out the SPAR store was stocking MrBeast’s range of Feastables chocolate bars, Nicola’s store visits became more frequent.
As the launch of Feastables in SPAR stores resulted in huge demand for the sweet treats, Nicola was one of many also playing the digital Spinner Winner game daily on their smartphones trying to win instant prizes and entries to the grand prize draw.
There were almost 500,000 spins of the digital wheel from SPAR customers, with more than 250,000 entries to the grand prize draw.
A Spinner Winner roadshow also toured the country creating theatre around the campaign, visiting participating SPAR stores where customers had the chance to spin the wheel to win a range of prizes.
MrBeast is the most subscribed individual YouTuber globally with 204 million subscribers, with people around the world entertained by his daring stunts and philanthropic acts.
Nicola said: “I am absolutely made up to win the car! I don’t really do many promotions, and I only did this because I saw it in the SPAR and thought I would have a go. I played daily and most of the time I won grand prize entries never thinking this would happen.
“I had forgotten about it after the campaign came to an end to be honest. I was completely shocked when I received the email, and I thought it was a scam as I had put the wrong mobile number into the form.
“When I took the call, I couldn’t believe it. I think I just went silent on the phone. I then rang around all my friends and family, and they couldn’t believe it either!
“I wouldn’t say I am a car fanatic, but I cannot wait to have a drive in it. It’s such a lovely car. Thank you SPAR and thanks very much MrBeast!”
Fiona Drummond, Company Stores Director at James Hall & Co. Ltd, SPAR UK’s primary wholesaler and distributor for the North of England, said: “I would like to congratulate Nicola for being the winner of the grand prize in SPAR’s Spinner Winner campaign with MrBeast.
“The Mercedes is a beautiful car and I really hope Nicola enjoys driving it and getting from A to B in luxury going forward. It was lovely to present her with it in front of her family and be part of such an exciting occasion.
“Spinner Winner was a hugely successful campaign for SPAR, particularly with the younger demographic. It really did bring a point of difference to our stores and enabled us another avenue to connect with the communities that we serve.”
