SPAR customers across East Lancashire and the Ribble Valley have raised over £425 for voluntary group, the Ribble Valley Scrub Hub.

Kindly donating spare change at the till, SPAR customers have helped the Ribble Valley Scrub Hub purchase fabric and trimmings to produce free, made-to-order PPE for keyworkers across East Lancashire and the Ribble Valley.

Independent SPAR retailer, Nigel Masters of SPAR Oswaldtwistle said, “We were thrilled to support the Ribble Valley Scrub Hub. The time and commitment their volunteer sewers have shown over the past few months has been truly admirable, and they have had a significant impact on helping to protect our local keyworkers and the communities they serve.”

Customers donated in SPAR stores across Accrington, Clitheroe, Chatburn, Padiham, Langho, Burnley, Nelson, Barrowford and Burnley.

Nigel added: “Big thank you to all SPAR customers who have kindly supported this cause.”

Set up in response to the nationwide shortage of PPE, the Ribble Valley Scrub Hub’s network of volunteer sewers have proved a lifeline to many local keyworkers, producing face masks, NHS scrub sets, face mask comfort bands and scrub wash bags.
