Fazilas proudly supported a local charity car wash on Sunday 18th October, donating wraps, curries and rice for event volunteers.

Held locally, at the Ace Car Wash in Bolton, the event was organised by the Green Gate Trust’s Yemen Aid Convoy and aimed to raise money for people suffering a major humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

According to UNICEF, over 12 million children are at danger from the country’s devastating conflict with families facing food, water and medical supply shortages. The coronavirus pandemic has brought even more danger with only a third of people having access to running water and soap, healthcare facilities and PPE being in short supply.

Fazila Malek, Founder and Managing Director of Fazila Foods, said “We were delighted to be able to help this important event by donating nutrition for the trust’s hard working volunteers. As a local retailer and manufacturer, we think it is incredibly important to support our local community and help those who are less fortunate than ourselves, wherever they may be in the world. The people of Yemen face many challenges and we hope that this event will help bring some comfort and hope to their lives.”

Ikram Khan, pictured, said “Our Volunteers were privileged to have been greeted with snacks and meals from Fazila Foods. The efforts of the well known brand were well recognised and a welcome treat for the volunteers of all ages – old and young, who worked tirelessly throughout the event.”

Fazila added, “Thank you to the Green Gate Trust for organising this fundraiser and helping to support those who need it most.”

To date, the Green Gate Trust has raised £15,500 through sponsor donations and £8,800 through cash washes and bucket collections, with more events planned such as a Biryani & Cake event (24-25.10.20).
