A warehouse manager at James Hall & Co. Ltd has been named as a Lancashire Apprentice of the Year.
Nabeela Malek, 25, from Bolton, was named as the winner of the Degree Apprentice of the Year Award at the Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards held at Preston North End Football Club.
Nabeela, who has been with James Hall & Co. Ltd since 2017, has worked across various departments in the company before finding her place in Operations.
When offered the chance to complete a Business Management Apprenticeship in 2018, Nabeela jumped at the chance to develop herself personally and professionally, completing the qualification with Distinction.
Her Apprenticeship also led to a promotion to become a Trainee Fresh Food Warehouse Manager within the company’s Operations Division based at the SPAR Distribution Centre at Bowland View.
In her role, Nabeela now has a management team of six supervisors and over 130 members of staff that work on a rotating shift pattern, and she credits her career progression to completing her qualification.
Nabeela states her proudest moments are achieving her qualification, gaining her promotion, and being able to internally promote two members of her team which has given her huge job satisfaction.
Nabeela said: “The last 12 months have just been achievement upon achievement, and I couldn’t be prouder or happier with how far I’ve come. I’m so grateful for the support around me, especially for those who always believed in me.
“This award isn’t just special to me, it’s special to the whole of the Operations and Logistics department at James Hall, as well as all of the young females in management positions.
“When I started my qualification, my ambition was to progress, and it enabled me to do that. It also opened new avenues for me on the career ladder and I’ve developed my skillset which is now so much stronger.
“Thank you to everyone who has played a role in my journey and development so far, and here’s to the next step!”
