The Running Bee Foundation has postponed the SPAR City of Preston 10K which was due to take place on Sunday 28th March – it will now be held on Sunday 26th September 2021.

With the current impact of COVID, government guidelines around the easing of lockdown, and their responsibility to the health and wellbeing of the public, the event will not take place in March.

With the new date secured, all participants will be automatically moved over to Sunday 26th September – in which we hope to see a fantastic Athlete Village and lots of supporters able to cheer our runners on.

The Running Bee Foundation is hosting a VIRTUAL SPAR City of Preston 10K for runners still keen to mark the occasion, with people able to book from today (Friday 26th  February).

Whether you walk, jog, run, cycle or ramble to complete the distance – we want all participants to have the chance to be happy and healthy, with a bespoke medal for all who compete.

The virtual costs £10 to enter and you can register online here: www.runningbeefoundation.co.uk

The foundation is among thousands of non-profit organisations that has felt the repercussions of Coronavirus, but is determined to continue their work in promoting health and wellbeing and to fight childhood obesity around the North West.

The Running Bee’s Chair of Trustees Carl Austin-Behan OBE, DL commented:

Like so many other charitable organisations, we have been hit hard by the effects of Covid-19.

“We planned for many months to ensure we met all the health and safety requirements in order for runners and spectators to be safe.”

“However, with the continued impact of Coronavirus in Lancashire and across the UK, we must support Preston City council in their efforts to protect the community and the safety of everyone involved in our events.

“We hope to be back in the Autumn and our thoughts and best wishes are with the people of Preston, the council and our fantastic sponsor SPAR.”

The Foundation would like to further thank Chris Livesy and PAR for their continued support, our fantastic headline sponsor SPAR and Preston City Council for their help. Without all of these, we wouldn’t be able to continue our work in aiding fantastic local causes.
