Clayton Park Bakery, has donated over 62,000 of their products to food banks in the region so far this year, and their support is ongoing.
Clayton Park Bakery started out selling pies and sausage rolls at Blackburn market in 1995. Since then the company has grown to be one of the most important food manufacturers in the region. Company managers are determined to give back to the communities that have supported them over the years.
Statistics published by the Lancashire Telegraph, have shown that there are 4 areas in the region where over a third of children live below the poverty line: Blackburn with Darwen (36.5%), Pendle (37.3%), Hyndburn and Burnley (33.1%).
The food banks in these communities have become a vital source of nutrition for many. These sustained donations from Clayton Park Bakery will make a big difference to families around the area.
Paul Bradley, Clayton Park Bakery’s Sales & Marketing Manager, commented:
“We donate what we can, when we can, but there is a great need for more. I would encourage everyone, businesses and individuals, to support their local food bank.”
In the past 12 months Clayton Park Bakery has donated food to the Community Gateway Association Purple Pantry in Preston, The Burnley Community Kitchen, Maundy Relief in Accrington, and even Hyndburn Police Force who delivered food parcels directly to the elderly and vulnerable in the region.
Mr Bradley continued:
“There was a strong need for the foodbank before the pandemic, but now the demand is even higher. If it wasn’t for donations like these many people including children would be going hungry.”
